Reset Thirty-Nine, Day Twenty-Seven
Apr. 1st, 2022 02:33 amSomething in the air sent me into full-on allergy mode Thursday afternoon, and I've been there pretty much ever since. The packages of the tissues I buy recently got downsized at the same time their price went up, and I've gone through most of a package since afternoon. That's some pretty expensive pollen. It's also annoying, since I've sneezed so much that I'm getting sore, and I could use some chap stick around my nose but can't find it. The chap stick I mean, not my nose. I can find my nose with the greatest of ease. It's the part of my face that's sore and runny and keeps having explosions in it.
Eating dinner was a tedious affair, and I've got a bit of sinus headache, and I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep with all this going on, but aside from that things have not departed from the prevailing anxious dullness of the time. There was a pleasant moment around dusk, when I sat in the back yard (probably not risking additional pollen exposure because I'm pretty sure the stuff has gotten into the apartment anyway) and the mockingbird paid a brief visit to say goodnight. Had I been in better shape it might have served as a lullaby and I'd have taken a nap, but almost the moment I came back in my nose exploded again. C'est la vie.
And here it is April Fool's Day. I'm hoping to find out that the last several years have all been an elaborate prank, and the hallucinogens I was given will wear off and I'll wake up and it will still be 2013. What are the odds of that? I'm desperate enough to take them whatever they are. Ahchoo.
