Reset Forty-Seven, Day Thirty-Five
Jan. 3rd, 2023 07:51 amMonday was supposed to get very rainy, but it didn't, at least not here. It got somewhat rainy after a while, but I slept through that. In fact I slept through most of the day, at very odd times, and only woke up about two hours ago. I had today's breakfast, but haven't had yesterday's dinner yet. I've been wondering if I should eat yesterday's dinner for a second breakfast, or save it for lunch, or have it for dinner tonight. The donut I just had didn't fill me up, and I'm surely going to eat something, but I don't know what.
I'll probably end up making pancakes again. It's a good thing I bought a new box of mix. Also that whole gallon of milk, which I hadn't planned on, but the store was out of half gallons so I went big, and now I've used over half of that gallon, so I'd have run out had I only bought the half gallon.
Anyway, the rain. The next storm due is expected to arrive late tonight, and is supposed to be one of the biggest we've had in years. We shall see. The region has had a good soaking already, and the waterlogged ground could lead to widespread flooding if we get a lot of precipitation. Some of the rivers down the valley have already had levee failures from Sunday's storm. High winds are also expected, with power failures likely. In short, it could get pretty ugly. This sort of storm is the closest California gets to a hurricane. It really bites, but (Greek chorus cuts in) we need the rain.
I was hoping to take advantage of a digital coupon from CVS for 32% off an entire purchase up to $99.00, but didn't get my act together, so it's probably too late to arrange anything now. CVS is the only store I know of that stocks an ultra-fine point gel pen I like, and the only place around here that has my favorite fragrance of Seventh Generation dishwashing liquid, plus has the best prices on a couple of other items I buy. On other stuff it's astonishingly expensive, and a 32% discount is necessary to bring some stuff down to the regular prices of stores like Target and Walmart, which are way on the other end of town, plus are zoos. CVS is within normal walking distance, but my feet are still swollen and sore and I doubt I'd make it. Well, they'll probably send me another coupon in a month or so.
Drat, I'm maundering again. I should eat something at least. I doubt I'll be able to sleep again for several hours at least. I might hunt down a rerun of this year's rose parade at YouTube. Having grown up in the San Gabriel Valley, it doesn't really feel like a new year to me until I've seen at least part of that parade. In fact it you live within a few miles of Pasadena I think it's required that you watch it. It's like eating grits at restaurants in Georgia: "I'm sorry, but it's the law, honey."
