Reset Forty-Nine, Day Fourteen
Jun. 6th, 2023 04:53 amLumbering through the June days like a lost elephant looking for the graveyard; some place to put my weighted bones. The bed gets them repeatedly, as I nap again and again. Almost all of Monday I spent asleep. Grim imagination takes over when I wake, and then I remember how to forget where I am for a while; listen to some music, look at some cat memes, open a beer. In time it's time to sleep again, and everything is, if not fine at least not entirely un-fine.
Oh, at some point in the last 24 hours, while I was in bed, I heard the rumble of thunder not too distant. When I got up I checked the Internet for fire news, but there are none being tracked, so I guess we got lucky. I hope we stay that way.
I think I've posted this before, but it's so good and I've been listening to it a lot lately so I'll do it again. The album came out in 1992, and it holds up well. I had this particular track on a CD sampler from the record label, and loved listening to it on hot summer days, and nights. Still do. It helps a lot. Surprising that all this sound is made by only six guys. Composer Jay Anderson on bass, Jeff Hirshfield on drums, Wayne Krantz guitar, Billy Drewes soprano saxophone, Randy Brecker flugelhorn, and David Witham on keyboards/synthesizer. It's called "Days on End," and these really are.
