Reset Forty-Nine, Day Two Hundred Thirty
Jan. 11th, 2024 01:58 amWednesday's dinner was not a success. I made some soup, and got the herbs wrong, and it turned out quite unpleasant. I probably should not have mixed cumin, rosemary and thyme. They shouted everything else down and then argued amongst themselves. But at least I ate less than I usually do. For dinner anyway. The extra piece of cinnamon toast I'm having with my bedtime cocoa offsets that.
There was almost some rain Thursday evening. I heard it playing tune in the metal range hood vent pipe, and the pipe that vents the phony fireplace. It only lasted a few minutes, and I've heard nothing since but the intermittent exhalations of the furnace as it dispels the growing nocturnal chill. It will get below freezing tonight, and there is a frost warning. I pay no heed as I have no plants to be killed. I had, but left them out to die years ago, as I paid no heed then either, though I ought to have. Now it makes no difference. Virtue may be its own reward, but carelessness rewards itself.
The forecast is predicting almost certain rain Saturday. If this prediction is accurate, there could be a considerable accumulation of news now from this storm. We've had some snow from recent storms, but so far we've been out on the edge. This could be a direct hit that drops multiple feet on the mountain crests. I can't see it from here of course, but I'll get to see pictures, and I'll certainly feel the chill it brings. I'll also get to pay a big utility bill at the end of this month. The weather giveth, and the weather taketh away. I guess we know who the weather thinks it is.
I intend to get groceries Friday. Shopping days seem to come around ever more frequently. I know it's just seeming, and that makes it even more annoying. I'd gladly give up all thought of shopping if I could, but I think they send out hit squads to deal with people who do that. Those Capitalists don't fuck around, you know. It's all their money, and they want it back, now! I'd better give it to them.
