Reset Forty-Nine, Day Two Hundred Sixty
Feb. 10th, 2024 03:30 amGroceries fetched and put away, with some difficulty, the refrigerator in particular being pretty seriously overstuffed, and then an afternoon nap, and then getting up and munching the first slice of the new cake, and sampling the tiny bottle of cognac, which might have had something to do with getting a bit woozy and lying down again, which led to sleeping another four hours or so, and then getting up to fix dinner. Dinner is done, and now I'm sleepy again. Isn't that how it always goes?
Oh, one other interesting incident Friday. I opened the front door to check on the weather, and a black and brown tabby cat I've never seen before gave me a quick glance and invited itself in. It was a mild, sunny day and I didn't see any flying insects about, so I just left the door open and went back to the computer. The cat went snooping in the bedroom, and a couple of minutes later I looked around in time to see the shadow of its tail heading out the door.
I went to the door and the cat was sniffing at a bush just outside, and responded with only a brief glance when I asked if there was anything else it wanted, then it just walked farther along the bush to continue its sniffing. Apparently its curiosity about the apartment was satisfied, and it had no further use for me. A breeze came up and I closed the door to keep it from blowing shut violently. The cat wore a black collar with a little ring at the neck which probably once held a bell which the cat had abandoned somewhere, so it is apparently owned by someone, and had probably gone walkabout without permission. When I later went out to the mailbox the cat was nowhere in sight. I guess we'll see if it shows up again.
Now I am very very tired and wanting to sleep more. It has gotten chillier again now that the tropical rains have passed. That is making my cozy covers all the more appealing. That tiny bottle of cognac too. Jut a wig or two, I think. In lieu of dessert.
