We're still getting June's weather in May, and the long range forecast is now showing Julys weather is coming in June. Next week we get our first triple-digit high of the year, and nights with lows in the seventies, so there'll be no proper cooling of the apartment overnight. I'm always disappointed when I survive until summer. Well crap, I think, why didn't I die while I was still comfortable? Now I have to stay alive until fall, or die miserable. It's a lousy choice.
But Tuesday was only unpleasantly warm, and I slept only moderately uncomfortably, and at some point I did wake up and fix Monday's dinner, and didn't burn anything, and then went back to bed and slept some more, still only moderately uncomfortably, and when I finally woke up this morning the temperature in here was down to 72, which is within the tolerable range. I was pleased to find that YouTube is not misbehaving as badly as it was for the last few days, and though still sluggish is at least watchable again. I stumbled across a video from Portishead, a British group from the nineties I hadn't thought of in ages. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed their enigmatic, fin-de-siècle aestheticism. Maybe summer will be endurable after all.
