Reset Forty-Nine, Day Four Hundred-Five
Jul. 5th, 2024 06:37 amIndependence Day passed with less noise than usual in the mini-metropolis. The house across the street from my apartment's building had no fireworks for the first time since I moved in. I don't know if different people have moved in there or not. My eyesight has grown so bad that I would probably not recognize anybody who lives on this block anymore. But the only big bans I heard were off in the distance, probably coming from the fair grounds where I believe they have a sponsored fireworks show, the only legal display in town. I've never gone, or course.
I slept poorly in the heat last night, and the plumbers will probably be her today traipsing in and out and making racket and all, and I'm expecting a peak bad experience from it all. It's too late for me to get any sleep this morning, and I'd probably be too hyper to sleep anyway. brain has gone into full hamster wheel mode. What to do about groceries this week is all up in the air. I have the feeling that life here is now a slow motion train wreck on a burning trestle. 114 degrees today, 115 tomorrow. No highs below 103 for the next two weeks, and the lowest lows will be two nights with 69. This is not at all good for my disposition.
