Reset Forty-Nine, Day Four Hundred-Four
Jul. 4th, 2024 05:49 amWednesday I heard a bit of drilling going on in the apartment next door, and saw a truck that might have belonged to the plumbers parked in the driveway, and briefly hoped they might have arranged to finish our project that day, but it wasn't the full crew and they were just doing a bit more preparation for the final push, which I still hope will be Friday. Today being boom boom scare the animals day.
Other stuff I'd hoped to do I never got around to, being wilted as I was by the 109 evil degree air. It didn't get that hot in here of course, but that's because I was burning money to run the air conditioner. Doing my part to prevent a general outage I bumped my thermostat up to 84, which was tolerable as long as I remained utterly at rest (if rest such a miserable state can be called.) I didn't even have the computer on most of the day, but did a bit of reading by the natural glare from the windows. I slept more than I read, and dozed fitfully more than I slept, and worthless wool-gathered more than I dozed. It was not a day I'd care to repeat, but repeat it I surely must, as the weather pattern remains the same in forecasts through the 18th, and is unlikely to change significantly after that through the remainder of Satan's Summer.
I've been disappointed by the supermarket ads for the week yet again, and though I need some things and would like to get a few others I am undecided about actually ordering anything. Not only is the weather going to be utterly hellish, and the selection of sale items pathetic, but holy crap am I tired and unfocused! Much of the time I can't seem to stay awake more than two or three hours straight, and then I can't get to sleep for hours on end, despite feeling exhausted. I think I might be broken. The silver lining is that since I'm not eating much I'm not getting a lot of indigestion, and the plants seem to have given up on producing pollen, because I haven't been sneezing much. I might also be losing a bit of fat ass weight, though I haven't weighed myself lately. Small favors. I'd celebrate with a shower, but there's still no GD hot water!
Oh, and my Idernet data usage seems to be down a bit, but that's because it's been too hot to sit at the computer and because it's taking forever to load videos on YouTube, so I'm loading fewer. I'm not counting those as wins.
