Reset Fifty, Day Twenty-Three
Aug. 3rd, 2024 06:54 amOh, didn't I do this yet? I guess not.
Nothing got done Friday but the refund from Safeway, and I ended up getting only a bit over half of what I'd have gotten if the task had been completed at the original sale. Also didn't get the rewards I'd signed up for, and those were worth another four bucks off my next shopping trip. So I'm out almost twenty bucks altogether, though I'm glad to have gotten the other sixteen back. This is the sort of thing that happens when you lose a routine.
Other than that, it was hot and smoky, though the smoke diminished once night fell and this morning I can hardly smell it. It got cloudy, and the clouds held the heat in, so I never opened the windows or turned the fan on and thus didn't get to take advantage of the freshened air. The overnight low was 79. It also got a bit humid, and very early this morning I woke up to a rushing sound which turned out to be a brief rain shower. I don't know how local it was, but even if it fell on the fire it wasn't enough to make a difference.
I'm going in for naps every couple of hours. My legs are incredibly bad and don't want to be used much, or even left in the down position for long. They don't want to be up on the bed for too long either, and start to cramp soon. At the moment, the only thing that feels worse than my legs is my brain, which has never gotten over the shock of turning stupid.
That damned air conditioner going again, All night long, again and again. And thank goodness I've got it. I'd be screaming in the 81 degree morning right now without it. I just wish it wasn't so noisy, drafty and clammy.
