Friday I managed to sleep most of the afternoon, and only woke up near sunset. It was almost dark when I went out to the mailbox, which presented me with nothing of interest. My mail and I are equally dull. I spent the rest of the evening boring myself, then went back to sleep before midnight. I woke around four in the morning and wandered about in one of my can't-get-back-to-sleep fantasy worlds until finally dropping off for another hour or so, waking up as the morning light was growing. It didn't grow much, as it is overcast today, and the smell of damp greeted me when I went to the window. There have ben a few brief sprinkles since, but nothing I would call real rain. Still, it's a nice change.

The gray and damp are making me want to curl up with a book, which is what I intend to do soon. I'll make some hot tea first, and maybe open a pack of shortbread cookies. There is other stuff I need to do today, but it can surely wait a while. This is the first truly autumnal day of the season, and I want to indulge myself reveling in it. There might not be many more, and the book I began a few weeks ago has been sorely neglected.

Oh, and the music I've been obsessed with the last couple of days is this melancholy Bob Dylan track:
