51/53: WTF O'Clock!
Nov. 4th, 2024 10:34 amI managed to get my brain sufficiently organized to arrange for milk to be fetched Sunday. Four other items were added to my list (by me; there is no mystery list expander at large) but alas only three were in stock at Safeway, and the one that wasn't was... donuts! Now, having eaten the last stale (17 days old) donut in my possession this morning, I am breakfast-donutless until next Saturday. I failed to tell my niece to substitute another brand if my preferred donuts were not available, an oversight I have come to make with alarming frequency as I slip into dotage. It's probably getting worse because I'm not getting enough brain food, i.e. donuts, in my diet.
Sunday I also ate a big bowl of noodles with butter and cheese for late lunch/early dinner, and then went to bed fairly early, and though I slept soundly much of the night I did wake very early with considerable pain in my stomach. After ruling out the too-obvious explanation of a big clump of semi-digested noodles and cheese in my gut, I concluded that I was either suffering a heart attack or had developed stomach cancer, and would soon be dead. I spent some time considering sending texts to my niece and nephew telling them to arrange for the removal of my corpse before it began to rot, but then realized that my bowels needed to move, and following the accomplishment of that act the pain was much diminished. Note to self: constipation may not be either a heart attack or cancer.
The mini-metropolis is predicted to get a high temperature of 75 degrees this afternoon, but so far is remaining quite cool. I look forward to getting some fresh air into the place, as it has grown quite stuffy in here now that the windows have remained mostly closed for several days and nights. The next few days are expected to be less balmy, affording a very limited window of open window opportunity, as it were. Next week there will be several opportunities for rain, and after the middle of the month we'll start getting highs in the fifties. Autumn is rushing by, it seems. This might be the last really balmy day we get until spring. I'll try to stay awake and remember to get those windows open by one o'clock. That's about when it should hit seventy.
Well drat, I totally forgot I was doing this so never finished or posted it. I'll call it finished. Timeformy afternoon nap.
