Reset Forty-Four, Day Seventeen
Sep. 29th, 2022 08:17 amWednesday afternoon I heard the mockingbird somewhere near my back yard, though not for long. Someone started a machine, probably a leaf blower, on the other side of the bike path and the bird departed. I was unable to fly away, so just went back indoors. It was too hot outside anyway. Later I ate a sandwich for dinner, and found myself growing sleepy so took a late evening nap. When I woke from the nap the clock on my phone said it was 2:22. I didn't see any particular significance in that, but my life is so dull that I found it mildly interesting.
The forecast is now showing hottish days continuing through the first week of October, but at least the nights will remain cool. It's been cool tonight, and I've put on a light hoodie when I've gone out to sit in the starless dark and breathe, which is pretty much the only thing interesting to do out there at night. But I can't just sit in front of this screen all the time. YouTube videos are better after an occasional break.
There was a late night snack of cinnamon toast and unsweetened chocolate milk with brandy. As I plan to shop fairly early in the month, I need to use up some of my bread and milk so I can replace them. There will be lots of toast and chocolate milk. With luck, cocoa powder might be on sale when I shop, but I might need to buy some even if it isn't. If I'm still around when winter comes I'll be using quite a bit of it. I like hot chocolate sweet, though, so I should probably buy some malted milk powder as well. Like cocoa powder, it's pretty expensive. Winter's indulgences are pricy.
There might have been bad dreams during my recent nap, but I don't remember them. I just recall a brief glimpse of a setting in which many of my nightmares take place. Cliffs are involved. I think I might have been Wile E. Coyote in a previous life. This one too, probably.
