Reset Forty-Four, Day Nineteen
Oct. 1st, 2022 04:03 amFriday no birds visited, other than the usual sparrows and finches who could hardly be avoided in these parts. Other than the absence of the raven it could hardly be distinguished from Thursday. I almost took a late nap, but decided to eat a bite first, since I had skipped dinner, and that snack of chips and sour cream woke me up enough that I'm still awake now. As it was the last day of September I'd intended to check my bandwidth usage, but got distracted, so I don't know if I've hit 40GB yet. I've been inching up on it, nudging 39GB in August. I probably didn't, since September has one less day, but I bet I'll hit it in October.
The cooler nights are causing me to crave soup again. I'm very low on ramen bowls, though I have several packages of the old style ramen blocks. But tonight I rediscovered an old package of Lipton's noodlesodium soup in the cupboard and I just made that. I'd forgotten how vile that stuff is, even when it is fresh, and this stuff has probably been on the shelf for three years or so. When I was a kid I absolutely loved this stuff. While some foods from my childhood can evoke nostalgia, this stuff is provoking something close to nausea. I don't think it's quite the same as it was then, anyway. I remember it having quite a bit of parsley in it, but this pack only has a few stray specks. There also used to be tasty little oil slicks floating on the soup, but any fat this stuff has has been emulsified into oblivion. I don't think I'll be buying any more of it.
Oh, I keep forgetting this is here. Started it two hours ago. I kept going back and watching a video I came across. It's 40 Fingers version of Metallica's "Fade to Black." It isn't my favorite Metallica song, but this version is splendid. I think I'll keep listening to it until I go to sleep.
