Time flies when you're having brainfarts. Wednesday was cool and sunny, and I was short of sleep again, so after dinner I took a nap. Waking after four hours, I still felt sleepy and soon rejoined Morpheus for more than three more hours. By then it was nearly four o'clock in the morning, so I started my new day, which is today, not surprisingly. It is cool and sunny again today, but I'm pretty sure I'll hit a wall before sunset and have to nap again.

The biggest event Wednesday was my discovery of a piece of mail jammed into the bottom of the mailbox. That has happened before, but this one had been there longer than any of the others, and was not only sopping wet from the recent rain, but a bit muddy thanks tot he dust that had accumulated on it. It was my home energy report from the utility company, and it was mailed late last June. The damned thing had been in there for over four months. I really hate those inappropriate mailboxes, and the flaky carriers we always seem to get here. I don't want to complain to the landlords about the box, as I've been here almost four years and they haven't yet raised the rent, which must be incredibly rare. It seems best not to call their attention to anything that might cost money. I'll just have to feel around in the too-high box more carefully in the future. Maybe after they raise the rent, which I'm sure is inevitable, I'll mention it then.

I was thinking about doing some laundry today, but haven't been out to see if the laundry room is in use already. All the cars of the other tenants are in the parking lot today, so odds are one of them will be using it. I wish I'd done the laundry last week, when the parking lot was empty three days in a row. The limited laundry facilities are another drawback to living here, with only one washer and one dryer for four apartments. But the upside is that the machines are not coin operated, so I don't have to pay extra to do laundry, or keep a supply of coins on hand.

There were grits for breakfast, but I should be thinking about lunch now. If I can't get in the laundry room I might wait until later and just have dinner early instead of lunch, then nap for a while. This being awake in the morning thing is so confusing. I'm simply not used to it anymore. Especially when the sun is so bright. There's no significant chance of rain in the forecast for eight more days, and then it's still les than 50%, and the days will be cool rather than cold. I hope winter isn't over already.
