Reset Forty-Seven, Day Twenty-Eight
Dec. 27th, 2022 06:08 amMonday, foods were acquired, but not the foods I'd expected. I had made a list from the ad that was current on Saturday, but didn't notice that the ad did not survive the holiday. Arriving at the store's web site early Monday morning I found everything changed, and had to make a whole new selection. Some things I needed were part of the new sale, but other things I'd planned on getting weren't, and it was quite disappointing to discover that I wouldn't be getting some of those items I'd planned on at all, and would have to pay full price for others I'd thought I'd get on sale. Still, I've got enough stuff to get me through a couple of weeks, including a fresh bottle of maple syrup for all the pancakes I'm likely to have during the wintry weather upcoming.
Wintry weather is here now, and when I woke from an evening nap I took (because putting away groceries that someone has brought me is hard work) I heard rain furiously beating the roof and wind howling in the trees. That was around ten o'clock in the evening, and it's been mostly blustery ever since. I've kept my phone battery topped off, as the wind was frequently so intense that I thought a power outage was imminent. It hasn't happened yet, though. There's plenty of time, though, as the wind advisory is in effect until ten o'clock this morning.
It looks like Wednesday will be the only day for the rest of the week that isn't rainy, and then after a respite on New Year's Day the rain will be back for the first week of January. A rainy January could be a good thing, as long as the rain is cold enough to put a lot of snow on the mountains. Rain at high elevations would cause erosion in al those burned over areas, and consequent flooding in the valley. We don't want that.
For some reason my feet have swollen up and gotten sore over the last week or so. Probably a bad sign, but for now more annoying than anything else. I wonder if it's gout? It wouldn't surprise me, given my diet and my mostly sedentary life these days. I could probably use some exercise, though I don't know how far I could get on those swollen feet. Catch 22 feet. Well, I couldn't get out to walk in this weather anyway.
