Sunday I made myself a bit sick. I fixed a batch of macaroni and cheese for an early dinner and ate it all. I'm no longer accustomed to big Sunday dinners, so my reaction was not good. I went to sleep for a while, but then woke up with acid reflux. A couple of antacid tablets later I was able to get back to sleep, though it was fitful, and by four o'clock this morning I was done. It's a bit disturbing that my recent bouts of acid reflux have been so frequently brought on by carb-heavy meals. Those are the easiest meals to prepare, and usually the least costly. And I have no idea what else to fix anyway, being the Anticook predicted in the Book of Revelations.
I just checked the weather for the first time in several days and although the days are continuing their monotonous summer hotness, it looks like the upcoming nights are going to be dipping down into the fifties. The forecast also has a few days with highs in the seventies at the end of September and beginning of October. That's just about on time, as the Autumnal Equinox is coming this Friday. Saturday will have a high of87 though, so summer clearly doesn't intend to go without a fight. Autumn always wins those fights, though, unless the sun goes nova, which hasn't happened around here in, oh, never. It will eventually, of course, but odds are we'll all be dead by then. Unless reincarnation is a thing, but even if it is, by then we'd have been hanging around this place so long we'll be sick of it and won't care.
I wonder if I could sleep some more now? I ate a small piece of cake a while ago, but don't dare eat more, until I'm sure the acid reflux won't get set off again. I'll get hungry soon, but if I can get to sleep first I can delay the actual eating a bit longer. And I've certainly got nothing to stay awake for anyway.
