Thursday I got up too early (long before dawn) and then crashed in the early afternoon, waking up at dusk. While waking up at dusk is not as depressing as waking up in full darkness, it is not an event that will fill me with good cheer. To over come the big mood, I indulged myself in some canned tamales for dinner. Canned tamales are one of my nostalgia foods, and I always have a can or two on hand, but I haven't eaten them in quite a while as they are also one of my reflux foods. I just needed cheering up so badly that the risk was worth it.

As it turned out, I got through the rest of the evening and all the way to a post-midnight bedtime without reflux, and then slept for four hours, plus took an extra hour for dozing and catnapping, and remained un-bilious. So this morning I had a bit of heavily-creamed coffee with a piece of lemony cake, and about half an hour later had a surprise visit from my old friend the Esophagus Demon. A very brief inhalation was sufficient to trigger a bout of coughing that lasted several minutes. it wasn't as bad as the event several months ago when I was quite sure I was about to suffocate because I couldn't catch a breath without excruciating pain and a noise that sounded like whooping cough, but it was still extremely unpleasant. Still, unless I aspirated some dangerous bacteria, virus, fungi spores, or other disease, causing agents, I have apparently survived another incident. So happy birthday to me.

After that I needed something to calm myself down, so went looking for relaxing music on YouTube. The Saint-Saƫns piece I posted a few days ago seemed apt, so I went looking for it but came across something even better. It's the same piece, The Swan, but arranged for cello and harp instead of cello and piano, and it's quite the stunner. Had I not been up for only five hours (and full of coffee) it might have relaxed me right back to sleep. Kathrin Butterfly and Natalia Zolotareva:

(I don't have a user icon with a swan, so at LJ I'm making do with the weather geese. It's supposed to rain here later today anyway. Dreamwidth gets the usual Caillebotte. It's all I've got there.)
