Monday afternoon I finally got sleepy and slept until after nightfall, then slept again starting a bit after midnight, then woke up today shortly before sunrise. I'm not sure why I woke up, but it's too late to do anything about it now. I'll just have to make the best of it until I can get to sleep again. I might eat something. I already had a donut of course, and a couple of cookies, but I'm thinking maybe I should have something with a bit of protein in it. I've got just a bit of a headache, which could get worse as the day goes on if I neglect it.
In the meantime I'm listening to the piece of music I stumbled on Monday that finally calmed my brain enough that I was able to get to sleep. It's a cello and harp arrangement of the Méditation from the opera Thaïs by Jules Massenet. It's one of the most relaxing pieces of music ever written, and also very sad. That's a 1707 Stradivarius violincello being played by Stéphane Tétreault, by the way. Valérie Milot's harp is a modern instrument, but sounds pretty damned good too.
