Wednesday brought no rain to the mini-metropolis, unless it fell after I went to sleep around seven o'clock in the evening. I got up about midnight, and didn't hear anything falling, so probably not. I've heard no rain overnight either, but about half an hour ago there was a sudden burst of wind which remained quite furious for several minutes, then died down. It has been quiet since, and when I look out the window I see no slickness on the driveway, and in fact I think I can get a glimpse of the rising moon between the leaf clusters on the tree at the street.

The forecast is saying that rain is a near-certainty today, and that the high will be a chilly 49, but at the moment it doesn't look even a bit overcast. It would be sad if that bit of wind we got earlier was all this storm brings us. And it would be especially distressing due to the forecast of a high of 80 degrees this coming Wednesday, with two even warmer days following. I'm not ready for that, and a little farewell downpour today would make that prospect so much easier to face. Come on, Rain baby, ain't I been good to you? Just one more little wet kiss before you run off with that sweaty blowhard Summer. When you come back in October or November, I might not even still be here. Don't lose what might be our last chance.
