rejectomorphNo plumbers Thursday, and so still no hot water. There isn't any firm timeline, so I might still be showerless through July's sultry early days. On the bright side, the sultry evenings are bringing lots of cricket song. The most I've ever heard in the mini-metropolis in fact. It has diminished quite a bit over the last hour, probably because it has gotten much cooler tonight. It only got up to 92 Thursday, so it was able to cool down to the low sixties overnight. It was a one-off though. It will be 97 today, and probably 66 or higher Friday night. Oh well.
This is the first night in several that I have a clean kitchen as I head to bed. Partly because I ate a cold dinner, and partly because I actually washed dishes that had been accumulating for days. I've not only gotten stupid in my old age, I've become a complete slob. The heat hasn't helped one bit. Who knows what this place will look like in July? Not pretty, I'm sure.
Now and then overnight I've caught whiffs of what smells like brush fire, so it's likely that the wind is shifting. A second fire has started not far from the first, and that will be contributing a bit more smoke. I'm hoping the fires will be out, and no more will start, when the BIG heat wave strikes net week. Smoke is bad, heat is bad, but the combination is horrendous. But right now it feels like we're getting a cool ocean breeze. I wish it could stay that way, though of course it won't.
I wasn't going to post a video, but then this came up in the rotation and I recalled recently seeing a current picture of Tim Finn, who is younger than me, and he looks seriously old, so before either of us gets any older here he is quite young, with his estimable antipodean band Crowded House in the World Where You Live, or Lived, or I Live or lived, or We or They Live, whatever. Same world, probably.
