Not a Spectacular Show

After watching the sky for a couple of hours, I had seen only a handful of pale streaks and a few bright ones. Not the best Perseids ever. Too bad, because this was a perfect night for them. Outdoors, it was pleasantly warm, but the house was still hot. The one good thing about these extremely hot summer days, is that they are followed by nights in which one can spend hours out of doors in shirtsleeves. I feel the need for a new comet, which will leave a trail of dust through which the earth will pass this time of year. To whom does one speak to make such a request? Who runs the oort cloud? Has Rupert Murdoch bought it yet?
