I got through Sunday alive, then failed to die in my sleep, and have endured the morning so far without a donut. It's been more than week since I've had a donut. Donuts have long been my compensation for waking up. When I realize I've woken up again, my first thought is usually, well I'm still alive, but at least I have a donut. Now I haven't had one for over a week, and probably won't get more until Friday, but I still have to endure being conscious when I wake up not yet dead, and I must say the cinnamon toast I've been eating as a substitute for the missing donuts is getting more than a bit tedious. Downright irritating, in fact.

Plus this morning I've had an excruciating pain in my neck and left shoulder, which though now diminished has left me with a headache and nausea. I've been awake since before three o'clock this morning and would love to get back to sleep but I have to wait for a FedEx delivery. It has been raining off and on, sometimes quite furiously, since about six, and I don't want the item delivered to get soaked if I'm asleep and don't wake up to the knock or the text notification noise from the phone. And once the rain stops, which it's supposed to do by mid-morning, there's still the possibility of things being stolen from the porch, though that is less likely in this spot than many others, given the low traffic flow on this street and the distance of my porch from the street.

So I need to find some way to distract myself for some indeterminate period of time. I'm thinking about going out to see if the laundry room is in use, and if not then putting a load in to wash. In the meantime I've just had a cup of Mullein leaf tea, and have been watching a video from almost a quarter of a century ago I found out about only yesterday. It's Christopher Walken dancing to Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice," and I find it very entertaining. Maybe even worth waking up for... although I'd still like a donut.
