52/11-12: Missing Inaction
Jan. 23rd, 2025 09:50 amDrat, I've done it again. All day Wednesday I kept telling myself to write a journal entry, and kept getting distracted and not doing it. I didn't do several things Wednesday, one being to open the windows for an hour or so during the peak heat to get some fresh air into the apartment for the first time in months. Although the temperatures will remain above the seasonal average for the next couple of weeks at least, we won't be getting another high of seventy, so I do regret missing that opportunity. Today, with a high of 66, is the warmest it will get again this month.
Sadly, the prospect of rain remains poor. A string of days in early February are showing probabilities of 24%, but actual rain is in fact unlikely at 24%. February 6th is showing a likelihood of 33%, which I would say is about the slightest chance that's apt to actually deliver, but I certainly won't hold my breath. It might be that I'll get my utility bill today or tomorrow, and I expect it will be quite modest for the time of year, and that will be a slight compensation for the absence of a proper winter. But that pleasure will surely be slight and transient.
I had planned to get the next batch of groceries on the 31st, but Safeway has blindsided me with a sale on several items I've been waiting for, so I'm thinking I might order this week. If I do, it's likely that next week's sale will be even better, but I really really want what I can get this week. And anyway, I've got no guarantee that I'll even still be around next week. Carpe diem! And Carpe Cheetos! (Another slight and transient pleasure, but WTF.)
Now I must wash last night's dinner dishes. Thank goodness its only a small pot, and one bowl, one spoon, and a butter knife. I love beans.
