52/24: Wet II
Feb. 4th, 2025 08:43 amSluggishly dragging myself out of bed at midnight after having spent eight hours there (though probably only three quarters of them actually asleep) I did morning-like things in a daze.... Daze on end. About the time the sun rose hidden behind clouds I ate the Monday dinner I'd skipped after going out to find my sadly dampened March/April issue of Wired and paused to wonder why I even bother to subscribe to magazines while living in a place where this happens to them and then fell into bed.
In case you haven't guessed, the falling into bed was the good part. I'm now about to do that again. Clouds are still keeping the room pleasantly dim, and the trickling of rain in the downspout is a seductive lullaby. There could be another wet magazine in the mailbox this afternoon, but I think I have time for a nap before I have to go out and check. As long as I don't get carried away and sleep until nightfall. That has happened before. Waking up is hard to do. I think Neil Sedaka said that. He was right, though sometimes getting back to sleep is even harder. I hope to avoid both problems today.
