52/156-157-158: Bright
Jul. 9th, 2025 11:14 pmThe last few days have turned out not to have been as hot as predicted, which has been a mercy given how crappy they've been in other ways. The various artifacts of crepitude have made themselves ever-present, and I've hobbled about the place (when I've had no choice but to move) with great difficulty and much discomfort. Sleep has brought little respite as I have been getting horrendous leg and foot cramps that wake me up and prevent me from returning to sleep no matter how exhausted I feel, which has been pretty damned exhausted. Once again, I do not recommend getting old, if it can be avoided. Of course one can't be sure of when one will actually get old. I've known people of greater age then I now have who had far fewer problems than I, and people of fewer years who had become hopeless messes prematurely. It's a crapshoot, and once you crap out it's too late to avoid it.
Our good luck with the weather is running out today. Triple-digit highs and warm nights are due the next several days, and my air conditioner will get the workout it's been able to avoid the last few days. Friday will be my shopping day again, and probably not a very good one, though I know there've been worse and have no doubt there'll be worse still to come. But now I'm going to try to get to sleep before dawn. It's going to be 104 today, and I hope to sleep through as much of it as possible. It's bound to be soggy though. But the more I sweat the less I'll pee. Always look on the bright side of life, eh?
