It was a rather rough Tuesday, with a long evening nap. Despite slightly lower temperatures I felt drained of all energy. I didn't even bother to fix my intended dinner, but only finished off a can of beans from the weekend. Then I slept too little that night, and woke too early today in the too-bright dawn. I'll probably have to repeat Tuesday's sleep pattern today. I just ate some almond flour to counteract the indigestion I've had since last night. If I eat dinner tonight it will probably be after the evening nap I feel coming on.

The good news is that the forecast is holding fairly steady, with daily highs in the nineties and nocturnal lows in the low sixties. This is decidedly non-horrendous for July. No more triple digit highs are predicted until the last couple of days of the month. I'm still wary of August, but a thin ray of hope is breaking through. Could we end up with a mostly mild summer? I won't say, because I don't want to jinx it.

I got this week's Safeway ad yesterday, and like the ads for the previous two weeks, the prices are up overall. This might be the beginning of the pangs of distress which I expect will grow quite serious later in the summer. I might be forced to adjust my diet, which I'm sure would not be an entirely bad thing. Still I do worry a bit, since schadenfreude is, though sweet to some, not at all nutritious, and broken budgets are invariably debilitating.

The weather report on my phone is saying it is now 86 degrees, headed for 91 this evening, but then it will cool off quickly enough that I ought to be able to open the windows and turn on the fan not long after ten o'clock. It's79 indoors right now, and I might splurge on a burst of air conditioning, taking it down to about 75, before the rates go up at three o'clock, so it won't top eighty for my nap hours. Since there has been considerable mildness of late, and more expected, saving a decent sum, I won't feel extravagant. After that miserable Tuesday I could use a compensatory reward.
