52/220-221: TD,DR (Too Dull, Didn't Read)
Sep. 27th, 2025 08:53 pmSo the groceries were acquired Friday, and the store wasn't out of anything I'd ordered but for only one item for which they provided an adequate substitution, though it wasn't the substitution I'd requested they make when I ordered. I don't know what the point of using their substitution feature is if they are just going to ignore it, but late-stage capitalism I suppose. Anyway I've got donuts (which I haven't opened yet, as I also got a cake slice to eat the first two days, so the dozen donuts will last the full two weeks until the next shopping day. Sometimes I'm still clever enough to outsmart dickish reality.)
The long sleeps continue, though early in the mornings they tend to be interrupted by periods of hamster wheel brain. If the wheel stops before morning light begins to intrude, I will go back to sleep, but if it continues to dawn I am going to get up, and then need an afternoon nap, and that is apt to turn into one of the long sleeps. What it all adds up to is unpredictability, and that leads to additional disruption. I still haven't fixed my Friday dinner, for example. Maybe I'll get around to it tonight, and maybe I won't.
The cooler weather coming up is now predicted to bring a possibility of rain three days in a row. They will probably just be showers, but still, any water coming out of the sky is a good thing this time of year, as long as it isn't accompanied by lightning strikes. Rain reduces the chances of autumn wildfires, while lightning can actually bring them on. And after the chilly days we are expected to get some more very warm days, and those are the ones you don't want fires ruining. Smoke just ruins the pleasant fall air.
I think I'm going to take a shot at fixing Friday dinner now. I'm a bit hungry, and not very tired, so this could be my best chance. But I do wonder what's going on around here outside my head. I rarely notice it anymore, now that I've gotten senile tunnel vision.
