Friday was grocery day, and another experience Safeway's online service was had. I won't go into details but suffice to say it was not entirely pleasant. Okay, it was not pleasant at all, but the nasty job had to be done, and as I was the one it was being done for, I did for myself. I did unto myself as I would not have done unto others unless I'd craved their misery. World with or without end, Amen.

Things were substituted for things out of stock, leaving me displeased, and I forgot to order things I'd intended to get, which left me even more displeased, and I believe that one entire item that I paid for is missing altogether, which brings me displeasure on steroids. But all that sort of thing is to be expected, blah blah blah, late stage capitalism, onrushing senility, etc., etc..

Despite a nap shortly after the groceries arrived here, I still lacked energy to fix dinner, so I have snacked on chips and am downing a beer, which I hope will not force me to wake op and pee too often during the sleep I'm about to return to. Because the afternoon nap I took caused me to miss the opportunity to open the windows to the last warm hours we are expected to have until next Tuesday, the apartment has already gotten a bit too chilly, and this will very likely turn out to finally be the night on which I'll have to turn on the furnace. There could be showers tonight, and very likely for the next two days as well, but starting next Tuesday we're supposed to get more than a week of additional balminess.

But then in fall and spring, especially, the forecasts for these parts are not always reliable, so I might well end up in a chilly flood at a time when we were expecting a heat wave, and thus I'll make no bets. Live for the boring moment, I always say! Or might, if I were less doltish and quicker of wit.
