It was Buy Nothing Day, and I didn't buy anything- but it was not intentional. I wanted to buy something. I wanted to buy film, and batteries, and candles, and CD-Rs, and a surge protector and adapter, but I couldn't get to the store. Rats!

The weather continues to be mild, and the warmth, coupled with the recent rains, has caused an impressive crop of short green grass to appear among the tall, dry stalks in many of the fields. Late new grass following the first rains is not unusual here, but this is an unusually large crop. I've quit waiting for winter weather to appear, and I'm just going to enjoy the oddness while it lasts. Iced tea now.

the cold is here to stay for the next few months- I eagerly anticipate spring's new grass. My apple tree holds onto the remaining 2-3 apples until January prevails. I insist on leaving them there on the barren branches so that I can be reminded of summer while I look out of my breakfast room window.
