I wish I could, but my discretionary income, after all my essential expenses, is down to about 600 dollars a year, and likely to go lower. Until I can leave this place, it is unlikely to go up, so there just isn't enough for a new system. The best I can do is try to keep this one running by patching it up.

Heh heh. :) I may be reduced to that, eventually. For now, I hope to get a new CPU and motherboard. My mouse and keyboard are just about shot, too. The hard drive and modem are new. The video card is used but acceptable. CD drive is new, but has software problems. The 14 inch monitor I'll probably just have to live with. And I expect the sound card to fail at any time. So this thing really is just hanging by a thread. And, of course, I'm running Windows 98- but that is another scary story....
