Cold Bright
Dec. 8th, 2003 05:26 amTonight's moon was so bright that my eyes were dazzled. Where last night in light diffused by the clouds I could see all the yellow leaves covering the lawn, tonight I can see only those which are not in shadow. Under the trees and behind fences and bushes, the darkness is so dense that all color, all detail vanishes. The moonlight is as harsh as the icy air which flows in the storm's wake, and so intense that it drives the stars away, but the frozen dewdrops on grass blade and leaf tip sparkle with star-like light stolen from the moon.
