Dawn has crept up on me again. I blame the perfume. I was digging through stacks of old stuff and came across magazines from ten years ago and more. Some of them had those perfume strips in them. They still smell, after all this time. But I have a suspicion that the perfume has altered with age, and now has soporific properties. (This is undoubtedly the result of some conspiracy perpetrated by the perfume manufacturers.) Inhaling it has altered my perception of time, so that I spent the entire night doing things in slow motion. A few minutes ago, I went out to look at the stars and found that the sky had already turned pale. The birds must be in on the conspiracy. They are all laughing at me.

Despite having had the windows open and the fan on, the house still holds much of yesterday's heat. A few nights ago I slept under five blankets. Now I will be down to one, and might find even that too warm. Poor Sluggo has been having a hard time of it, too. If today is as warm as yesterday, I doubt he'll be able to work more than a few minutes this afternoon, and maybe an hour or so later tonight. I can almost hear his CPU popping and crackling now. When I get a new computer, I might try using Sluggo as a hotplate.

Must get to sleep before it gets any brighter.

to have stored magazines of 10 years back and stuff...... your house seems to be very big. i do not have such pleasure as we have all small houses and we cannot store with such luxury.

and yeah those perfumes must be very good for the smell to last for 10 years even if its misty and stale.

Small town, bigger house -- big city, smaller house, is pretty much the way it works here. If you are rich, you can have a big house even in a big city, and if you are poor you can end up with a small house even in a small town, but for everybody else the size of house you can afford depends on where you live. This being a fairly small town, a lot of middle class houses are fairly large. We have about 1800 square feet. (I'm not sure what that is in meters, but I think a square meter is about 11 square feet.) Plus, there's a two car garage, and we have only one car in it, so there is quite a lot of space for storage.

Those perfumed pages are a menace! Didn't some perfume used to smell good? I have a theory that they found all the pleasant scents ages ago, and are now reduced to hawking insecticide-like smells and old-lady-type heavy powdery scents.
On the plus side, Estee Lauder, whose company puts out the heaviest and the awfulest, has died, and is no doubt paying dearly for inflicting these dreadful perfumes on us all.

These were contained in old copies of Details, a young men's magazine to which I originally subscribed because in those days they sent each year, as a subscriber's premium, a CD of current music, which was always difficult to keep up with in this backwater. Thus, the perfume strips contained punky butch fragrances such as Drakar Noir, which I always associate with the guys who worked at the Del Taco I used to frequent in the early '90's. They thought it was, uh, rad! They'd have done better with a good quality motor oil.
