How brightly the winter moon shines, even when it is only slightly gibbous! The sky has cleared, after a sunset which tinged the last of the clouds pink, and now the ground is laced with the shadows of bare trees. Now that a fairly sunny day has reduced the persistent damp, the cold air is pleasant once again, and smells fresh, with no residue of last night's strange dankness.

There is little time to enjoy it, though, as I have much to do. Yesterday's excess of sleep has left me behind schedule. Oh, no! There's laundry!
