The UPS Guy With a Big Package
Mar. 25th, 2005 02:34 pmStuff's here. The tower is huge. It isn't going to fit in Sluggo's cubby. The room must be reconfigured. The monitor will be nice, when I've figured out where to put it. It will also be necessary to go to buy some cable and (since I don't want to be switching things back and forth all the time) a splitter for the telephone line. Then all the bits will have to be conjoined in some state of unholy e-matrimony, and it will all get turned on and booted. I don't like this some-assembly-required part. It's almost as annoying as shopping. Anyway, it's almost over. Soon, Sluggo will be able to get some rest.
I'd much rather be out enjoying the partly cloudy day than shifting a bunch of stuff around. Why did I ever think it would be a good idea to own stuff?

Date: 2005-03-26 02:59 am (UTC)There will now be a DVD writer and a nice 17' flat panel monitor, plus wireless keyboard and mouse. Much faster CPU (Intel this time) and more memory. Also a much bigger hard drive, which I'll probably never fill up.
I could probably have found a better deal, if I'd had more time (I kept finding Dell digital coupons for huge discounts, but every time I got to their web site I found that the coupons had already expired.) Sluggo's days are certainly drawing to an end, and I couldn't wait until the warm weather killed him, so I just went for what looked like the optimum deal available under the circumstances.
Oh, and they threw in a cheap laptop as part of the deal, so if I can find a wireless hot spot I'll be able to download big files and it won't take forever. And I'll also have a backup in case the big boy goes all Sluggo on me.
