I stepped outside a few minutes ago, and saw the bright red glow of the northern lights. If they are this intense in northern California, they must be quite impressive in Oregon and Washington. Wow.
OOH! How beautiful! I've always wanted to see the aurora borealis (and always thought if I had a daughter I would name her that)! You're so lucky! I wish I lived in no. CA instead...
Unfortunately, I don't have a working camera, (or a site to post pictures to.) This far south, we don't get to see the lights move. They are just a steady glow, red, or greenish blue, gradually spreading up from the horizon. This is only the second time that I have seen a really bright display. It seems that there is a lot of solar activity this year, sending out many bursts of energy to stimulate the earth's magnetic field.
