Hotness

The sky has gone all cirrus today, and the white drifts have now begun to glow pink and orange with sunset light. I'm waiting for the mauve. Mauve cirrus is nice, and cooling to the gaze. I need a bit of cooling. The heat has returned, as it is won't to do following an electrical storm. All the flowers which had remained shut during the cold, rainy days have reopened, splashing the yard with bright color. The green of the leaves is darkening, though, as summer nears, and the green of grass is fading to yellow in patches which will, without irrigation, soon be brown. I haven't had to water the lawn yet this spring, thanks to the late season rains. Neighbors with automatic sprinklers are already squandering water. I hear a few sprinklers chattering now. Well, a few birds may enjoy an evening bath in their extravagant spray, I suppose, so the water isn't entirely wasted.

The nephew is spending another night, though the cat has not yet discovered this. She is sitting in my window, watching the dusk fall. In a few minutes, she will see his car arrive, and then she'll probably give me one of her accusing looks and a few irritated meows. I'll be sympathetic. I'm not fond of disruption, myself. Too, the quick change from brisk to balmy weather has left me a bit enervated, and I'd rather vegetate than deal with real life, but it can't be helped. Stuff to do, always stuff to do.

Oh, and the new computer just had its very first real conniption, rebooting itself and running a scan immediately following startup. Windows claims to have replaced a missing file of some sort. I have no idea what it was all about, but I've been expecting it. It's the first sign of the digital Alzheimer's with which all PCs eventually die. The onset of Sluggo's disease!

Sluggo no doubt hid a piece of himself away in one of your files, and is about to take over.
