Jupiter overtakes the laggard moon, but the moon is the first to be hidden by the trees. Jupiter lingers in a gap, and doesn't vanish until eleven o'clock. Even at that late hour, the air outdoors remains as warm as it would be on some tropical island. I can imagine the pines transformed into palms, and the cricket chirps into waves washing a beach. Illusions get me through the summer. I don't expect it to turn cool at all tonight. I remember this weather pattern from other years. Some summers, the earth releases its heat every night, and others it hoards it. Right now, it's being miserly. I am displeased. If I must endure warm nights, I want to be in Hawaii.
