Unwelcome Brightness

I'll be glad when daylight saving time begins and it won't be so bright at six o'clock in the morning for a while. I can see everything right now- the wilting camellias, the leafless mulberry tree, the small (and oddly brown this year) leaves which the oaks have begun to sprout, the cheerful birds pecking at the lawn- these are not things I need to see when I'm ready to sleep. They drag me toward active thoughts. I want the darkness back.

I went on the dig last night, and didn't find what I was looking for, but did find the expected distractions. I discovered the hiding place of a number of old negatives of pictures taken with 120 roll film. Now I'm wondering if anybody makes a scanner that scans 120 film. 35mm film scanners are easy to come by, but 120 film has been out of fashion since before scanners were developed, so I don't know if the manufacturers have ever bothered to make scanners compatible with it. It would be nice to get digital versions of those pictures, especially since most of them are of things that no longer exist. And then I'd also have a bunch of stuff to stick into that 10GB of storage space with which LJ provides me.

Back aches from stooping down and lifting stuff. I dread the thought of having to move all this stuff one day.

Sure they do, 120 is still widely used by (non-digital) pro photographers. And me... :)

The Epson 4490 is pretty good for the money, and from time to time they offer really good deals on refurbs such as this one...

That looks just about ideal. I've been looking at all-in-one devices so far, not so much because I really want a combined printer and scanner (though I need a printer too), but because I've run out of room for putting equipment. But I've never found an all-in-one that scans 120 negatives, so I guess I'll have to get rid of something in here to make room for two devices.
