There was a call from Hospice this evening to let us know that my dad died at five o'clock. The last time I saw him I knew it was a only a matter of days, if not hours. It's a relief to know that he won't be suffering any more, or just lying there drugged senseless. He lived more than a century, most of it in good health, and had an easier death than many people do. I'm sure he was grateful for that, and so am I.

Though the end was difficult, such a long life with a caring son like you was a blessing few will have. My condolences.
