Confusions

The mild evening is full of crickets chirping. I haven't noticed them recently, but don't know if they've been silent or if I've just not been paying attention. Vernal lethargy has left me dazed, so I'm out of touch with what's been going on. I'm not even sure which planet I'm seeing shine in the west each evening. Is that Venus back again already, or has Jupiter sneaked up on me? The crickets aren't saying.

they're in on the mystery, probably. i should go out and look at the sky at night, but i got out of the habit when west nile came to the area, which is a shame. i need to see some stars, if cloud cover and ambient light will allow.

I've been staying in more at night partly because of Portia. If I go out she'll insist on going out, and getting her back in would be problematic. I didn't mind my other cats going out at night, but they were good at defending themselves. Portia is a cream puff, and there's nothing worse than a blood-soaked cream puff with abscesses.
