Dampened

Today's rain was not of the tropical sort we had last week. It was the typical seasonal storm from the northern Pacific, bringing a slow, cold drizzle that lasted for hours. Just ahead of it, early this morning, the first dying cicada turned up on the back porch. It was gone by this afternoon. I think one of the feral cats ate it. I'd be pleased if they ate all the dying cicadas that turn up here. I hate gathering those bugs out of the outdoor sink.

The annual autumnal battle between summer and winter will continue this week, with two more days of clouds to be followed by a few mild and sunny days. I enjoy the variety October sometimes brings. It prevents meteorological boredom from setting in.
