Reset Forty-Eight, Day Twenty-Four
Mar. 10th, 2023 06:33 amOnce again I appear to have settled into a pattern, undoubtedly temporary, sleeping similar hours each rainy, overcast day. Thursday I slept through a midmorning and early afternoon, waking briefly a couple of times and returning to sleep, and then had a somewhat sluggish late afternoon followed by another sleep lasting until almost midnight, and al this time the rain was falling, quickly or slowly, and often the wind blowing furiously. During the afternoon wake I baked a potato, which turned out quite nice. Dinner came after midnight, and was satisfactory, though nothing special.
As the rain never ceased while I was awake (and probably not during sleep either) I never got around to checking the mailbox. If anything was left Thursday it is undoubtedly soaked through by now. As the rain finally eased up an hour or so ago I could probably go out now, but it's still pretty dark so I'll wait and see if I'm still awake when it grows light. I have been for the last few days, so odds are good. I'm just not sure I'll feel like putting shoes on to go out there, though, and I sure won't go out barefoot or in slippers.
Chances of rain today are much less, and the next big storm isn't due until Sunday. Then it could be wet into Tuesday. Today we still have wind and flood advisories in effect, with the flooding due to snowmelt runoff. It's going to stay cool or cold for several days at least. MY utility bill is going to be so big this month! It could top a hundred bucks for the first time since I've lived in the mini-metropolis. It routinely topped a hundred when I lived in Paradise, so I guess I'm... lucky? Yeah, that must be it.
