Reset Forty-Nine, Day Four Hundred-Nine

And so the plumbers came back Monday and spent a few hours in my apartment, then went to other apartments and then went to lunch, and as I was exhausted and my feet were swollen I decided to lie on the bed for a while., until the plumbers cam back to finish up whatever they had to finish. I must have gone to sleep as soon as my head hit that pillow. That was about one o'clock, and I didn't wake up until after five, and the last of the plumbers was pulling out of the driveway. They might have knocked on my door to get back in and fetch the stuff they left here, but if so I didn't hear them.

Of course there is still no hot water. I am about as exhausted as I was Monday morning, and the plumbers will be back yet again, and I have developed a suspicion that they might not be real plumbers, but the Furies of Greek myth here to torment me for some infraction of which I'm unaware. Anyway, I expect I'll collapse from exhaustion again today, but I hope not until after the plumbers have left. I don't want them to be back Wednesday.

Wednesday I have other plans, tentative though they are. I need to go to the bank, perhaps for the last time. If I have energy I would like to than stop at a store and pick up a few grocery items to see me through until Friday, or Monday, whichever turns out to be the best actual shopping day. Best does not mean good, of course. Good cannot come while this heat remains, and this heat is sticking around. 105 today. When I look at the long range forecast I want to cry, or kill myself, or maybe kill somebody who pisses me off (why waste a good murder just on yourself?) Instead I think I'll just go back to bed and try to sleep, and if I do and the plumbers can't wake me up, well tough shit.
