Day Out

So Wednesday I finally got to the bank, and my niece went into a market to fetch three items while I waited in the hot car, and then it was back to the apartment that, despite an early visit from the plumbers, still has no hot water. They are waiting for a crucial part that had to be ordered, and it is supposed to be delivered today. If it is, then they will install a new connection to the city water today and we will have hot water again by tonight. If it isn't delivered, more waiting.

It wasn't much of a trip out. I was sort of hoping I'd find enough energy to at least go into the grocery store myself, though what I'd really like to do is visit a Dollar Tree for some things I'm wanting, but when it came down to it I simply had no energy for even the simplest task. I don't think I'll be making any more plans of that sort, as they are too disappointing when they don't work out. I'll have to confine my shopping to online henceforth, and Dollar Tree only has bulk purchases available online. I think I'll be ordering 36 boxes of Scott Facial Tissues, and a dozen quarts of 3% hydrogen peroxide, for foot soaking and general cleaning. The other stuff I want from there I'll have to put on a list and get somebody to go in and fetch it all for me. That means no surprise impulse purchases, which are the fun part. Fun-ish, anyway. Shopping is never really fun for me.

The next scheduled excitement, aside from getting the hot water back, will be grocery shopping Monday. It's not a great selection of sale stuff this week, but there are several things I need that can't wait and are best ordered online. And it's only supposed to be 102 degrees Monday, so relatively cool, dog help us. Oh, the high of 99 that was supposed to appear one day next week is gone, and the current lowest high in the forecast is 100. It is increasingly likely that July will turn out to have been a month with triple digit highs every single day. I don't know if that's a local record or not, but it's certainly a personal record for me. And it has me very worried about August, which is typically the hottest month of the year in these parts. The rainy winter was nice, but otherwise I'm not a real big fan of 2024.
