Reset Fifty, Day Fifty-Five
Sep. 5th, 2024 07:23 amThere's no telling what the hell's gone wrong with time. It's gotten all catawampus on me, and I have no way of telling which when is up. When I woke up (at some ungodly hour) I feared it was Friday, but the clock/calendar in my computer says it's only Thursday, so who do I believe? Well, my milk doesn't taste old enough to have been bought a full week ago, and I bought it on a Friday, so that milk is putting its thumb on the scale for Thursday.
To be sure, I should be horrified to discover that milk has thumbs, but I'm so relieved that it's probably just Thursday that I choose to simply overlook the unnatural abomination of digitized bovine mammary secretions. I got up about ohsodark o'clock again this morning, and have since eaten two donuts, so I can probably just get on with what's left of my life, and quit having unreasonable expectations. Like things making sense. How could anything inside my decrepit head make sense, anyway?
Hot today of course, and the rain we were promised next week in yesterday's forecast is now gone, and I feel betrayed. The prediction has been pushed one week later, but I no longer trust the weatherman. He cheats on me with a troll and I cheat on him with despair. If only we could break up, but I don't know how. Am I going mad? Or am I just pissed off?
Today I'm having a harder time than usual seeing the cursor on my monitor. There ought to be a way you could just tap the screen and the cursor would make a bright yellow happy face and wink and say "Hey, big boy, I'm right here. Is that an erection in your pocket or are you just planning to make a banana smoothie?" Honestly, I'm planning to make a banana smoothie. I'm certainly not going to just sit here all day looking for a goddam invisible cursor.
