lj_dev, Brad is preparing some significant changes to the whole "friends" concept. You might want to get your two or more cents in. Also, some of the comments are fraught with potential for delightful LJ drama, (stalkers! spies!) and at least one of them (mine, of course) actually contains a few amusing lines. Your time won't be utterly wasted.

Stalking enabled/disabled/encouraged/discouraged
Some people took the friends label entirely too literally, perhaps a more neutral word is in order, even with the same characteristics.
The friends-only feature is disappointing when searching, such journals shouldn't show up in the search!
