It might have been better written had it been done for a magazine more demanding than Vanity Fair, but it's still entertaining and moderately enlightening. And, yes, the man is a certifiable loony.

Date: 2004-02-24 08:26 pm (UTC)But I do enjoy it when Ashcroft drops one of his little bombs, such as pointing out in public that, for Jews and Christians, pride is a sin and not a virtue. In his speeches (written for him by people who actually have some command of language) Bush still touts pride, of course, but I like to think that he's at least a bit uneasy about doing so after hearing one of Ashcroft's sermons. It will be very interesting to see how this underlying conflict of beliefs plays out.
