The cat mopes today. She is out of sorts, and dissatisfied with her dinner. The house has been vacuumed. Perhaps she misses the familiar dust.

It is exactly the same temperature indoors and out, but there is no hint of breeze, so the fresh outdoor air does not displace the stuffy indoor air despite the wide open windows.

Evening sunlight bathes a Japanese maple down the block, passing through its autumn red leaves. The glow is like a fire frozen in time.

The day is drenched in splendid October melancholy. Right on time.

"The day is drenched in splendid October melencholy."...it's been threading through my thoughts and feelings frequently since I read it here. Fall as glorious as it can be here, with it's honeyed slanted light and spectacular colors...always, always, makes me feel ....well, melencholy,...

Any way, if you haven't seen it, I've used your sentence as a heading to my latest post...Thank you.
