Out to spend a few minutes enjoying the pale light of the half moon, I once again unintentionally startled some deer. I, of course, can only see them as grey shadows in the night, yet they are the ones frightened of me. The poor beasts haven't a clue that I am no threat to them. They are unaware of the fact that I am all but blind in the darkness, or that I am as startled by their sudden dashes for safety as they are by the sight of me. I am always aware of my status as intruder here in their forest. It is strange that they seem less disturbed by human presence in the daylight. Perhaps I am the only person they ever see on foot at night, or maybe it is only that the predators of deer, such as mountain lions, are nocturnal. I would like them to become accustomed to me, and not run off when we are sharing the pleasant nights. And, I would very much like to be able to see as well in the dark as they do.

Looking out my window I see a cloud that looks exactly like a gigantic, white, fluffy seahorse. I'm thinking about Pasadena, and how much I would like, right now, to be poking around in the art section of that big public library. Yeah, sure, I could go online right now, and hunt down paintings there, maybe find one that has clouds looking like seahorses, but the truth is that I really like paper. I mean really like paper. There is something intense and sensual about paper which a video screen can never capture. And, in any case, It wouldn't be long before the video screen would go blank because Sluggo would for some inexplicable goofy computer reason restart, and I would spend the next hour trying to get it working again. To be as infuriating as a computer, books would have to develop the ability to spontaneously burst into flames, or, at least, have their pages suddenly go blank for no apparent reason. So, I will just sit here looking at clouds and fantasizing about the joys of the Pasadena Public Library. I wonder if they still have those books about Camillo Sitte?

Every once in a while, I get the Devil's internet connection: 50666 bps. Got it right now. What the hell; I know that this computer is possessed, anyway.

I found a web portal full of links to various debunking sites. It has a very clever name, too. This way to the purportal.

When watching BBC shows, there is often mention of a comestible called Marmite. I've always wondered what it is. The other day [livejournal.com profile] scottfreeman mentioned it in a post, so I asked him what it was and he posted this dandy link to a web site that tells all about it. Turns out it is made from the yeasty residue of brewing. Brewing? Hey, I like it already!
